10 Productive Tasks You Can Accomplish While Your Baby Naps

8 min | Updated on 15-02-2022 by HappyPreggie

Shhh!! Make sure you don't make any unexpected movements! The baby has finally settled down for a nap, and you've crept away, hoping not to trip over the squeaky floorboard. You're almost tempted to walk back in just to give those tiny, chubby hands, relaxed now above your baby's head, a quick kiss, since you already miss them.

It's no secret that naptime is the most valuable time of the day for mothers to get things accomplished or to be temporarily relieved from their 24/7 responsibilities as "moms." Moms can use naptime to catch up on things they've been wanting to do or are looking forward to doing, as well as squeeze in some me-time. Below we have picked 10 productive tasks you can accomplish while your baby naps!

#1. If you're tired, take a nap as well

We understand what you're thinking... This is meant to be a post about 'useful' things to do while your baby sleeps. While most people appreciate a well-deserved sleep, not everyone thinks it's a good use of time.

But the truth is that if you aren't overtired, you will be far more productive. So, if you're exhausted enough to fall asleep during your baby's nap, go ahead and do it!

#2. Do your cleaning routine for the day

You can also take advantage of naptime to do some minor cleaning. Of course, you don't want to use anything that could lead you to miss your baby's wake-up call, such as the vacuum cleaner. You can, however, handle jobs like tidying up their toys, dusting, sweeping, and wiping off the counters.

#3. Do some self-care

According to Meghan Telpner's blog, nap time self-care may be done in about an hour. A lot of babies don't get enough sleep. Due to teething or feedings, your baby may take 2-3 short one-hour naps during the day. If that's the case, cleaning up or food preparation your dinner during the first one-hour nap gets the necessary stuff out of the way, and be ready to do something fun or relaxing during the afternoon nap as me-time to unplug from mom mode.

It's the tiny things that make the biggest difference. You will feel invigorated if you take care of yourself. Because many women suffer from skin or hair issues after giving birth, other women simply moisturize their skin after a bath or shower.

#4. Make a short to-do list and set a timer

Make a list of tasks that you could easily complete in half the time your child takes a nap. Note down two or three tasks you can complete in 30 minutes if your kids regularly sleep for an hour. Set a timer for half an hour, and when the timer goes off, stop working. Make sure you start with the most essential duty and check off the items as you go to give yourself a sense of success.

#5. Grocery List and Online Shopping

You may not want to wrap your baby up and go to the shop while they are asleep, but you can start writing your grocery list while they are napping. Then you may take advantage of online grocery stores that allow you to order groceries for pick-up or delivery.

#6. Exercise or Practice Yoga

When you have a newborn, it can be difficult to fit in your regular workout or yoga practice. While your baby is asleep, you can sneak in a workout or a yoga session. You'll be more focused, energetic, and healthy for the remainder of the day if you do it this way. After all, if you want to take care of your baby, you must first take care of yourself.

#7. Start a scrapbook

You've probably already snapped 2.3 million photos of your child, but how many of them are kept just on your phone? Although being able to look through them anytime you want is convenient, having cherished photographs and memories in a tangible book makes them much more meaningful.

#8. Take Care of The Laundry

Another option is to do the laundry while your child is napping. If you can go inside the laundry room when your kid is still sleeping, bring one of their monitors with you so you can hear them if they wake up. Are you afraid to enter the laundry room while your child is sleeping? You can catch up on folding your laundry and do a load of laundry later.

#9. TV Time

You probably have some programs you'd like to watch if you had more time, so this can be your TV time. While you spend a lot of time watching TV with your child and sometimes with your husband or partner if you have some free time before bed, you don't have much time to watch your favorite shows or something that interests you.

You might fall asleep in front of the TV if you watch it before bed. It happens to the best of all, after all. As a result, this TV trick is a fantastic idea.

#10. Get Some Work Or A Home Project Done

When your baby is sleeping, you'll be more focused and get more accomplished if you have a job where you perform some or all of your work from home.

Otherwise, now is an excellent time to start or finish a home improvement project. Everyone's situation is unique, but most parents have a list of things they wish to do at home.
